What are the TPS & CTPS registers and why is it important to screen against these?
TPS
TPS stands for Telephone Preference Service. The TPS is a consumer list of landline and mobile numbers belonging to individuals who do not wish to receive any marketing calls.
CTPS
The CTPS is a list of landline and mobile numbers belonging to businesses who also wish to be removed from any marketing campaigns.
There are millions of numbers registered on the TPS & CTPS registers and cold calling any of these numbers could result in fines of up to £500,000. The ICO who issue these fines are actively pursuing companies that do not screen their numbers against the TPS registers. You are legally obliged to check your lists at least every 28 days to remove any new subscribers to remain compliant.
What is DNC (Do Not Call)?
Our DNC list consists of around 2 million individuals who have requested that their contact details are removed from both internal and partner marketing lists. These people may or may not be on the TPS registers.
Although it is not a legal requirement to remove these individuals it is considered best practice and in doing so you will significantly reduce your complaints.
