What is Syntax Validation API?
Syntax Validation API runs multiple syntax and database driven checks to give you an incredibly fast indication of whether a phone number is potentially valid or not.
The Syntax Validation API will return the following information:
All numbers
- valid: Is the number a potentially valid number or not.
- normalised: The Number formatted to an internationally recognized format.
- type: What type of number it is e.g. Mobile or Landline
- format: The international standard format which is E164
- country: The country this number is allocated too and the ISO numeric and alpha codes.
- blockStatus: If this number is from a range of allocated phone numbers by Ofcom.
- originalProvider: The provider this numbers range was applied to. This may have changed due to porting.
- location: Landline Only, The area of the UK that phone number is allocated to.

FAQs
Q How much does it cost?
All accounts will get this information returned for free included with HLR Lookups/ Landline Validation and Email Validation.
If you want to run just a syntax check on its own, this is currently limited to 10 lookups per day IP address making the request. If you want to make more requests please contact sales at sales@datasoap.co.uk or 0207 856 0422.
Q Will this service tell me if a phone number is live and callable?
This service will run multiple proprietary checks to see if the number is potentially valid filtering out known invalid numbers. If you want to find out if a number is live and callable you can augment the validation process by including a Mobile Validation (HLR Lookup) or Landline Validation check.
